Strategy:
Worked with Board and staff leadership to plan all elements of the retreats, facilitated retreats, and prepared follow-up reports with recommendations.

"Bill is a compassionate listener. Working with a team of five community colleges across Oregon, Bill coordinated a successful statewide event bringing a team from each of Oregon's 17 community colleges to focus on innovation. His approach in working with organizations collaborating together is to focus on their strengths and finding common ground. His ability to keep the big picture in mind while attending to the details is a striking balance. And we had fun working together at the same time. Not an easy combination."

Development Director
Portland Community College

Multicultural Competence

Facilitated a six-month faculty self-study group at Portland State University focused on issues of cultural diversity. Most participants were younger faculty from across the University who were seeking to improve their understanding and skills in this area.

Strategy:
Worked with faculty participants to identify issues and approaches, facilitate monthly sessions, and continually assess participant satisfaction with the process.

Result:
Faculty learned from one another, enhanced their understanding and skills, and left better able to work with issues of diversity in the classroom.

Program Evaluation, Writing, Documentation

Evaluated the Idaho Arts Commission's Building Community Bridges grants program and documented the twelve projects funded through this program in 2002 and 2003.

Strategy:
Developed evaluation and documentation strategies in collaboration with Arts Commission staff; conducted on-site interviews with representatives from all grant-funded projects; developed report which documents both the individual projects and collective learning about building and managing partnership projects; and, advised Arts Commission staff on this grant program's strengths and weaknesses.

Result:
Formal documentation of the strengths and weaknesses of both the Building Community Bridges grants program and of grant-funded projects; documentation of collective learning on what to expect when planning and managing arts partnership projects; stengthened relationships between the Arts Commission and grant-funded organizations as a result of the evaluation/documentation process.
